Statewide Newsletter – August 2012
Dear Green Chamber Members and Friends,
Well, August promises to be filled with even more great events. Today and tomorrow the NM Green Chamber and the White House Business Forward is honored to host Dr. Holmes Hummell of the Department of Energy for talks around the US Clean Energy Future.
On Monday, August 6th the NM Green Chamber of Commerce is honored to host US Senator Tom Udall for business roundtable and luncheon in Albuquerque. With the Wind Production Tax Credit about to expire, energy efficiency/renewable energy under attack, what progress can be expected in Washington DC? What are other measures Senator Udall is taking to support US clean technology and manufacturing?
Be sure to Save the Date of Friday, October 5th for our Second Annual Renewable Energy/Clean Technology Conference in Las Cruces, NM. Last year over 220 businesses participated and we are expecting an even bigger audience this year.
I’d like to thank the more than 260 members of the business community who participated in our first Sustainable Business Summit last week. I’d also like to recognize the honorees and winners of our first annual Sustainable Business awards, who are listed below. I would encourage you to support their efforts toward sustainability with your business. A special thanks our outstanding partner the New Mexico Business Weekly–I urge you to take a moment to subscribe to this important publication.
The NM Green Chamber of Commerce was recently honored to add former NM Governor Toney Anaya to its board of directors. During his interim Governor Anaya pushed New Mexico toward a technology-based economy and made significant advances in energy, water, the environment and economic development. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Tres Amigas renewable energy hub.
We have events going on around the state, with July Mixers in Las Cruces, Local Investing workshops in Silver City, recycling workshops in Taos, and our first green drinks event for our new Santa Fe Chapter on August 29th. So please join us.
As always, thank you to our growing list of new members, and for the ongoing support of our renewing members. We look forward to serving you.
CEO, NM Green Chamber of Commerce
